Which celebs do you dislike most?

I'll go ahead and use my sister's family as an example.
Both my sister and her husband work full time - good jobs with more than 80 hours a week between them. Insurance was provided. My nephew was born (with no in-utero diagnosis) with a severe life threatening (meaning without the first surgery he was definitely going to die soon) defect. He had his first 12-hour surgery before he was 6 hours old.

Insurance did not (and still does not) cover everything on the major surgeries and on-going medical care and supplies. Before the kid was a week old they had thousands in out-of pocket bills waiting on them. At least Ronald McDonald House was there to help them for the first few months of his life that he was hospitalized.

It can happen to anyone. I'm not dictating that everyone must donate to causes like this, but what you say about taking care of your own with good insurance could come back to bite you. You can't dismiss these organizations just because you believe you wont ever need them.

I understand what you're saying, but it's impossible for me to turn a blind eye towards a kid, regardless of how sorry the parents may be. I guess it's a "the least of these" things.

if i dont know them.....im not related to them......i feel no responsibility to them

simply because you cannot help every single person in that same situation

how can you help some but not all??

thats why i stick to helping out those that are family/close friends......otherwise you are on your own

Most of these treatments cost tens of thousands of dollars a piece, thats just chemo treatments...radiation, surgeries and transplants can cost prolly way more than ppl make in a lifetime...and its because of good ppl that donate to places like St Jude so these ppl can worry about their kids and not bills...so get a heart and a concious my friend...looks like you need one

ive had quite a few family members that have had cancer and needed chemo/radiation and the like......but oddly enough......they have all had insurance......and all its cost them is whatever copay they had to lay out for their visits.....they insurance covered the rest

what i said is that when somebody has money......the "right thing" to do with it......is whatever the hell you want to do with it

you are not obligated to help anybody or donate to anything regardless of how much money you have

I think you are ignorent to the problems a lot of ppl face when their kid or themselves are stricken by a serious illness like that

He's also forgetting other medical conditions besides cancer.

Insurance often refuses to pay on rare conditions because there's only 'experimental' treatments for them, or because it's so expensive to treat to begin with.

Uncommon cancers, often treated by St. Judes, also fall into this category.

And I've also had family members with cancer, and no not all their treatments were covered.

You can't rely on luck to not need serious medical care.

no......but you can rely on being smart enough to have insurance and also to have some sort of retirement svaings you can tap into if something like that were to come up and you needed a source to tap into

people have to help themselves and cant rely on those with alot of money to be there to make donations that will help them out
